Exporting webp or publish webp option
Upon publish to the web, or in the web properties tab is there an option that all images will be published in the webp format, rather than jpeg.
Conversely I can convert images to webp, but export and replace photo is the slower workaround.
Thanks all,

Bill, the point of Xara's approach is that it creates both JPEG and WebP images and the viewer's browser is checked to see it is can support WebP.
Changing all .jpg/.png to .webp post-publish seems overly complex and doomed to fail for transitions and pop-ups and retina. Not recommended.
Develop without WebP but invoke WebP use for publish. Downloads sizes are better than half with similar times.
Most browsers support WebP. Do it manually and you will be left behind with AVIF and JPEG XL that are emerging.
Perhaps Xara will include a cascade of JPEG XL > AVIF > WebP > JPEG/PNG.

Acorn I understand that xara upon publish presents both webp and jpg images.
I’m thinking of hero images only. On this page only. https://melfortmuseum.org/index.html The fire engine picture is webp only. The page after menu corrections from yourself and egg is greatly improved.
If larger image elements are not used for transitions, or pop ups, simply as hero webp, the page tests well. Cascading certainly would be an answer.
