SEO: "Viewport Not Set" Error with Google
Sometimes Google will send me notifications that my website has a "Viewport not set" error. However, I use Xara Web Designer Premium 15, and I can see in the code that it is set as
Code:
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
It appears well on mobile devices, and when I look in my Google Console, everything appears fine for the most part. This is an actual message from Google that I get via e-mail (and sometimes in Search Console it will show as an error for a day even though that code is always present). Can anyone tell me if I need to do something to stop getting this search engine error?
Thanks!

I wonder if this has to do with the pain in the iphone and ipad that I have been having. See the link.

Please reply, Someone. I am still having this exact issue with Google.

Hi Cookie,
You posted your original question six month ago. Within 36 hours Behzad replied with a link to a fairly long thread re this possible connection. Until now you've not responded. Have you followed Behzad's link?
Re: SEO: "Viewport Not Set" Error with Google
I appreciated the reply and did read that long thread, but nothing seemed to apply to the issue I am having. This is not an Apple issue. My viewport is not set to a fixed width. Per the code I shared initially, my viewport is responsive and set to device-width. However, Google still sends me notifications stating my viewport is not set. Does anyone else have this issue? How can it be solved, please?

Re: SEO: "Viewport Not Set" Error with Google
Hi CM, I was just pointing out the link. As for your particular issue Xara is an Adaptive website generator NOT a Responsive website generator so possibly this is causing the Google error.
Is this a big issue for you or just a niggly pia? Is your site an international corporate one or just a local business/service provider? Does your site rank in the first page of an expected search term? If so I'd say it's no big issue. If not perhaps you could say why this issue is a real problem effecting your sites SEO rather than just an 'error' reported by Google which you can spend far to many hours chasing down to no real effect.
Re: SEO: "Viewport Not Set" Error with Google
I appreciate you pointing out the link. It does seem to be a real problem. I have a few websites, and it does seem to have an effect on at least two of them, maybe all, in search engine rankings.
If anyone knows why I am getting this error when I do have a viewport set, please let me know why and what Xara or I can do about it. Thanks.
Re: SEO: "Viewport Not Set" Error with Google
This does appear to be a very annoying situation for several Xara users, including me, and I've spent a lot of unprofitable hours trying to satisfy Google. Google has been experimenting with new mobile site requirements and I have received numerous such "errors" associated with several of my websites. Most commonly reported are: "Text too small to read", "Clickable elements too close together", and "Viewport not set to "device-width"".
I've been updating my sites, ensuring that for mobile variants I've employed font sizes of no less than 16px - a suggestion by Google for sites rendered on mobile devices. When doing so, I also ensure that any menus I've employed also use 16px or larger fonts. Then, for menus, I check that I have at least a 2px spacing between buttons and at least 16px font size in the navigation bar properties / pop-up menu style. When I've taken care of these settings and verified them with Google Webmaster Tools, the "Viewport not set" error goes away as well.
I haven't been able to determine if my sites' ranking improves afterwards, but I'm not bugged with these errors anymore. Hope this helps.

This seems therefore to be a Dear xara request to sort out its Navbar delivery.
