Text Box Question
Hi everyone, enjoy the forum and most knowledgeable and brilliant moderators!
I have updated to Xara Extreme 4.
I may just be missing a simple solution but
I was wondering if there is a way to color or copy a fill directly into a fresh drawn text box. For example, until now I have been drawing a non text rectangle, filling it and then using the text tool to draw another rectangle over it and typing in text. This gives me the result I want but it is cumbersome.
Also, the old patch to get the space bar back to the selector tool does not work in Xara 4. I know Xara 4 Pro does have a solution but I can’t find one for Extreme 4.
Any programmers out there have a solution?
Thanks, Ron

Re: Text Box Question
If I'm reading your request correctly, you'll find that change in the Utilities > Customize Key Short-Cuts section.
I DO like the idea of coloring the text box.
Maybe another XX5 idea :)

Re: Text Box Question
customise shortcuts is only in pro :)
the ini file solution can be made to work in xtreme 4 - but I think that something needs to be changed - I can't find the reference at the moment, and I don't have xtreme4 installed to check
hopefully someone else can help here :o

Re: Text Box Question
Welcome to the Xtreme Conference Byron.
A text area is not really a rectangle. I know that some programs let you apply a text color and a text rectangle color but Xtreme is not one.
On the other hand, not to many programs let you apply a bitmap as a fill to a block of text. And still be able to edit the text.
So there are always trade offs. :)

Re: Text Box Question
Thanks Steve --
I saw that reference before I wrote for help -- It's over my head!
I will use the "V" for now until a programmer writes another patch.
Thanks again to all -- Ron
