How can I import an image at its REAL size?
Hi
When I import images (using Xara Designer Pro v7.1) I do I the images to arrive at their actual image size (in pixels)?
e.g. I just created an image which is 788x 953, however when I import it (using File ==> Import etc...) it arrives at 500x376! (- WTF ?!)
With thanks
John

Hi John,
You probably have Import all photos @ 96 dpi (1:1 @ 100% zoom) checked (default). Try Utilities>Options>View tab>Bitmaps section, choose last option, 'Import @ dpi specified in image file.'
Re: How can I import an image at its REAL size?
Great - that nailed it. (I don't remember changing it previously but somehow it got set at "Resize large imported images down to 500 pixels"!)
Thank you Fred.
Re: How can I import an image at its REAL size?
Fred you did not change it, the default is to downsize an imported image.

Sorry Fred. Old eyes and only a partially functioning brain cell to rely upon here. ;)

Bill, no need for apology...I just got a chuckle after re-looking at how John ended his post with 'Thank you Fred'. I thought, hmmm... another guy named Fred.
Best Regards

Hi
DRAT! The above solution is no longer working for me...
I am using Xara Designer Pro X version 8.1.3, running under Window 7, with the window text size DPI set to 125% (because I have a high res screen and need reasonalby large text to read).
It seems to be importing at "106 DPI".
I tried changing: Utilities, Options, Bitmaps, DPI when generated from "96" ==> "106", but this didnt seem to make any difference.
i.e. My image whose actual size is 1176 pixels wide, is imported at 1062.9 pixels wide.
I also tried "Imort all photos at 96dpi (1:1 at 100% zoom)"
AND "Import at the dpi specified by the image file"
But neither options seems to make any difference.
And once the image is imported, even if I drag it in from the bitmap gallery on the left, it STILL is arriving in the document at the wrong size.
Is this some bug or am I doing something wrong?
With thanks
John

P.S. Also another part of the problem is that I cant find a zoom %age then doesnt cause the image to 'ripple' if I set the pixels to "Never smooth".
To repeat, I have set my operating systems text size DPI to 125%....
Re: How can I import an image at its REAL size?
Why don't you just set the size explicitly after importing it?
