Problems with email links with Thunderbird
Hi,
I've created a new website in Xara (12.0.1.45229) for my choir, and inserted a number of links to enable users to contact the choir. They work fine in Outlook on my computers and in mail on my ipad, but a couple of people testing it using thunderbird have had a problem - it apparently opens up a dialog box asking the user to select a option (I'm not sure exactly what as I don't use/have access to thunderbird|). |Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be, or has anyone had a similar problem?
Any thoughts gratefully received
thanks
Paul

Paul, can you provide the mailto: part of your link?
My email links open fine in Thunderbird.

Same here re: links in Thunderbird.
That said, Mozilla Thunderbird is an email program and not a web browser, so unless you have used an application to embed HTML into an email, I would not expect the file to work in Thunderbird.
Re: Problems with email links with Thunderbird
Hi paulr1949,
The option your describing is the default Email provider / program. When your user clicks a mailto: link they're browser checks windows for their default email provider which is a setting in windows, if no setting is set it will popup saying, "Open this link with what program", they simply need to select thunderbird.
This article has more information - http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-...-mailto-links/
Thanks,
Ben
Edit: By like 3 minutes rob...
Re: Problems with email links with Thunderbird
Hi paulr1949,
This will be down to their browsers configuration as to what to do with a mailto link. It's nothing wrong with your setup, they just need to configure their email client on their PC.
Edit: Ben beat me to it lol
Re: Problems with email links with Thunderbird
Thank you all who have replied. I had used the standard format which produces a "mail to:..." entry. I will have to speak to the people concerned - but they are noy very computer-savvy, so may not understand what I want them to do!
