In my opinion, it doesn't matter which way the vote goes.
The question is, "Will Xara (or is it Magix) listen to what the opinion is on this forum?"

So if the vote to keep the new interface wins, does that mean that it is the right thing to do?

Many in this thread have said and I have always held a strong view on this. Give the customer the choice - is it really that difficult to do?

The programme is already hundreds of megabytes long so adding another bunch of megabytes is not going to harm any computers these days.

I can then (as a lover of Xtreme / Designer) decide if I want a dark interface or a lighter interface.

That way you keep all users happy. Users who have been very strong supporters of Xara over the years.

It's not about light or dark - it's the general trend in software to completely ignore user and OS preferences.

You know, your operating system (Windows) already HAS an EXTENSIVE bunch of options to exactly choose EVERY SINGLE color of EVERY UI element.

However, for a few years, more and more applications simply ignore standard OS widgets and colors and simply provide their own, which is a very worrying trend indeed.
It's no different with this version of Xtreme - it just draws all UI elements on its own and doesn't use what Windows provides.

But seeing how even Microsoft does that nowadays - I wonder why operating systems even still provide any UI drawing code...

I got used to the dark interface in Photoshop Elements. In Elements I have all kinds of trouble getting the flyouts. In XDP6 they work like a charm.

I think we as user of Xara software are very fortunate. Wish/want lists of changes have been posted over at least the last year and Xara developer have listened. The GUI happens to be an in-the-face experience so it garners a lot of attention but really to be fair, Xara has done wonderfully. They have even left in a workaround....maybe for just this type of instance happening, who knows but if we're honest, we can't say they haven't listened to it's user base, that just would be unfair.

Thanks Xara for a wonderful program.....we'll keep adding to your list of 'look what we'd like to see'....

I chose light because at this moment that's what I like but I will also give the new GUI a fair trial.....so for now I'm using it but my preference definitely is towards the light gui at this point.

BTW, almost 40% at this point liking the light, that's significant.

Voted dark because I like it enough not to bother trying the light one and when I did briefly try the light one I found the toolbar buttons too small.
