    Arrow Optical Illusion

    Hi All.

I was drawing some circles. Cloned them. Changed the colour of the cloned circles.

Then I just happened to move the blue set of circles to the right a bit and came across this illusion.

You can see 6 radial lines. 3 at the top and 3 at the bottom.

Now. the question (before you try it) is what will happen if I you move the belu set of circles more to the right?

Will you get more radial lines or less?

    My guess is less.

Here is another optical illusion. Concentric circles all evenly spaced.

Pretty cool, Rik. If I remember correctly, there will be more radial lines (up to a point). I remember doing this a sometime in the distant past (before PCs) with circles drawn on overhead projector transparencies. I guess I'm showing my age with this recollection.

Bill, that reminds me of looking at a 33 1/3 LP record tilted just right to catch the light.

I had to play... This is similar to Rik's example but with 3 more sets of blue circles situated N, S & W of center. Sort of reminds me of an airplane propeller spinning.

    Fun,
    Harry

I think the original recording was released as a 78 rpm.

Thanks Harry. The image was made on September 26, 2006. So not very fast drawing, simply fast finding the old image.

Y'elcome, Bill. Despite your claim, my first impression of your record was that it was of the 33 1/3 variety. I wasn't sure, so I had to go and grab one of my 78 rpm records and snap a photo of it to use for reference. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but, judging by the size of the label and the appearance of multiple tracks I'm still betting that that record is newer than you claim.

Just having a bit of fun with ya,
    Harry

PS - FWIW, this 78 rpm record was originally recorded on Jan. 26, 1927 by Miff Mole and his Little Molers featuring Miff Mole on trombone, Red Nichols on trumpet, and Jimmy Dorsey on clarinet.
