Hey, I really like the velvet look of this Bill, and the raised writing reminds me of needle work. Very nice work!

Thanks Michele. The ribbon was given a fractal clouds fill to give it a velvet effect. The background rectangle was given a snow 2 fill from the fills gallery and then given a green colour.

John how long have you been working on the train?

Yes it will be memorable. I'm just curious as to how long it is taking to complete. A drawing like that would drive me crazy...if I wasn't already

The train took me about 3 weeks of evenings to draw. I had a model so the work with so it went relatively quickly. It is just 3 shapes, the outline, the shadows and the highlights. The trestle on the other hand has taken 2 weeks and I am going crazy doing that. I have no model to work from just imagination.

I am working on the shadows now... It is driving me crazy trying to use just the woodgrain shadows to show each and every timber in the trestle. Then I still have the highlights to do... Here is a quick snapshot of part of the complexity of the piece...

Thanks so much for enjoying the piece... It makes the time worthwhile. Thanks again for looking. It is as close as I can get to impressionalism. Photorealistic would be totally madening....

Inspired by DAL's drawing in Barry's thread http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthread.php?t=30350

I remembered an old song, "Life is just a bowl of cherries" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_Is...wl_of_Cherries

Michele great timing on the twinkling lights.
