I used to buy a lot of downloaded music, but just came accross to many licence limitations, like not being able to stream from a media server across my network, so I have gone back to getting the cd's, shame I'd buy 4 times as much if I didn't have to order on the web to come in the post.

I rarely buy music. I buy on CD when I do buy music.

I like to buy the cd... then I can pick n choose what I want, copy onto my pc or onto another cd, and then sell the original at a flea market or something... (just kidding..... or am I )

I believe that it is the only proper way for it to be done. Downloading (legally) is difficult to find much, and illegally is just plain ole' not right..... All artists deserve the rewards of their labors and should not be cheated.

And even when it is legally done... often times it would be cheaper to physically go out and purchase it, and you also actually "have" the full product:

I hardly buy new music anymore.
But when I do it is on CD, I don`t like the limitations of downloaded music.
And I ofcourse download music from P2P networks or newsgroups, which isn`t
illegal in my country, just uploading it, is illegal here.(And we pay substantial extra
on blank media when we buy it, so I pay even if I use the cdr's to backup my own
    graphic work.)

And I buy vinyl records of older music that isn`t even available on CD.(or download)
Put it in my recordplayer, digitize it on my computer, and burn a CD from it
    and make mp3`s of it.

I absolutely refuse to buy downloaded music anymore, what I did buy was DRM protected WMA that would only play on my computer. Now don't get me wrong, but when I use my computer I don't need music, and when I listen to music my computer doesn't cut it. I ended up having to copy what I bought to MP3 (which is completely legal in Canada) so that I could use it in the car or on a portable player.

No sorry, If I buy music I need the hard copy - I need the CD. If I corrupt or lose the file, I need to be able to recreate it. I know that other places hold the licences for me, but getting additional copies is tedious in the extreme.

Give me the CD every time.

How do you prefer to purchase music?
    Once!

I've never downloaded a music file. I doubt I ever will. I feel that as a consumer I'm being taken for a very long ride.

I'm also very bored with the music industry wailing about piracy whilst creaming it in from all their clients changing from LP's to 8 Tracks to Compact Cassette to DVD's to MP3 (ipods) players without any ownership rights.
