Ross, i´m becoming more and more interested in sketchup because of posts like this. I´ve studied architecture in university (2 years) and later changed to comunication design. However i still love the look of the skectchy and technical drawings/presentation material we made there (i´ve used Autocad+Accurender, Sketchup didn´t exist at that time).
You already told me some time ago to try it, but i was still relutant mostly because i had no ideia for what or how i can take advantage of it in comunication design. it´s clear it´s a great tool for architecture . I´m willing to try it now, just have one question that you may help with. Is it possible to "recreate" the camera position used in a photo (used as reference) so we can construct our 3d models respecting the photo perpective? This is something i´m interested in exploring and that i know would be usefull for some comunication design projects. [EDITED] I´ve discovered that it´s possible to do what i want with the new version 6. Playing with the trial now [EDITED]Last edited by Miguel B.; 02 March 2007 at 12:34 AM. |

Current works in progress.
Sally and I started these at the same time - Sally beat me to it. I came to a dead stop for some reason. Will finish 'em both soon, when I'm not distracted by life's niggles. |

Know1 those are beautiful icons.
Raymond great start....I know how some projects seems to put themselves on hold. Once those niggles are sorted I'm sure we will see those images is their full beauty. Ross your line technique makes your work stand out as 'hand drawn'. Penny great tiles, could be used for an antique table top or a parquet floor. Would make a great wall panel in a library. Derek I love those old typewriters. I look forward to seeing the completed image. Steve great cartoons. Last edited by Soquili; 02 March 2007 at 02:33 PM. |

wow, some really groovy stuff.
Penny, your tiles are elegant and I know there will be application for them. I have a painting planned where i certainly could use something so subtle and pretty. Ross, I am gonna get sketchup. Those lines are terrific and wholly convincing as pencil sketch lines. Raymond, I like your version of the car. I recently added a car to my project list. I look forward to seeing your finished version (so I can 'steel' ideas). Know, Yer icons are fabulous. I hate the XP theme (my desktop is set to 'classic'), but if the feel and look were this nice, I would reconsider. I am always hesitant to show works in progress. This began when I was writing and early versions were always a lil embarrassing. MY WIPs never seem to have the finished quality of say, Raymond's car... they always look rather crude and, well, unfinished. maybe next month.... geo Last edited by GeoBen; 02 March 2007 at 04:37 PM. |

Geo, works in progress, by their very nature, need not be of good quality methinks.
F'rinstance, here's another one from my WiP folder. That is supposed to be a diamond and in the ring I'm drawing there are nine of 'em. No sign of quality yet ... |

Thanks
Still on my list is a shopping cart, a house for a home button, Camera and or video recorder, mobile phone, and a decent looking Trash can.So more stuff I can actually use for websites and other projects that require small descriptive icons. (Some of these I've already posted before) |
