Cybermesh is a Photoshop plug-out (it exports stuff) designed by John Knoll over a decade ago. It's cool and it's free:

or go to
http://www.garyworld.com/Cybermesh.zip

What it does is convert tonal images to 3D files.

It's an important 3d tool and I've not seen it available in years.

Gidget...

To best experience it, you'd need to actually download it, but here is the interface with a mesh depiction of the head image map. It's a poly based engine.

My Best,
Gare
