Randy this should get you started.

Step 1. Open ZBrush, Use the default fast shader material and draw a large 3d sphere in the center of the canvas, any color you choose.
Step 2. In the layers palette, press BAKE, then create a new layer.
Step 3. Open the picker palette, at the top choose OTHER and CONTINUOUS COLOR
Step 4. Select the Fiber Brush, choose the flat color material and on the new empty layer begin drawing fibers all over the sphere.
Thats the basic set up for using the fiber brush.

To control the fibers size use the following adjustments, tool palette Fiber brush selected, modifiers.

To adjust the density: adjust the DRAW SIZE and FIBER DENSITY settings
Fiber length is controlled by the DRAW DEPTH setting

See the Attached images for details, when drawing you can clear the fiber layer at any time and start over, the sphere layer will not be effected.
When you are finished merge the fiber layer and sphere layers together. Then you can continue to the next phase.

    Mike...

Who did you offend with your "graphic" pictures?

    Curious,

    Mike,

I am always interested in learning. Can you post some simple instructions and let me see if I can stumble through it.
