My big article on Xara X -- which I wrote for c't, Germany's leading computer magazine -- is now available for online reading in English at

    www.KlausNordby.com/xara

It demonstrates step-by-step how I created my "Microscope" illustration. This is the original English manuscript the Germans used for their translation. My buddy Jens Benthien claims that my unofficial, largely unedited original made for a better read than the Germans' published version - go figure that . . .

Wolfgang, sorry about that! It was published this summer, in issues 14 and 15. I had to wait some months after c't came out before the Germans would allow me to publish it on the web. You know how the Germans always want to RULE the rest of use peaceful people. ;-)

Turzan, my initital reference was the old air-brushed book cover, also found on that page. It was on a bottom layer for a little while, then I removed it and did 95% of the work off the top of my head.

The fig6 link is now working.

Well down. YOu do the XaraXian race proud

I've got to ask - as I've asked others before. As it reads it sounds like you were drawing from your head. Did you have a photo of a scope on a bottom layer? or did you just go create?
