    Default Blend issues

I am blending a Yin and yang symbol that has a pointed end. Even at 999-steps, the maximum number of steps, the end is feathered and not sharp.

It seems that even 256 steps should produce a smooth edge. And maybe my mind is gone but it seems to me in the past this would not have been an issue with blend.

    Is this just me?

And before you suggest it, I have solved this by creating a solid vector shape over the feathered part of the blend.

Gary, as one of your shapes has a cusp, its size will be far smaller than the spacing between each step at that point of the blend.
You therefore have to adjust the Attribute and Position profiles to balance the smearing away, even at 999 Steps.

The usual and better alternative is to make the smaller pointed end a thinner but longer shape aligning along the blend.
As you are talking about a cusp, there is no shape to tweak so I would add a small Line width of the same colour as the Fill and try that.

I just made a simple cap that does the trick.
