    Default Type Detective Challenge

This typeface is being used in a book I am currently reading. I have tried to find it with the usual name the font sites but none have identified the font.

The lower case "a" is very unique. It is like an italic "a" used in many fonts but this typeface is not italic.

I love the open and airy feeling of this typeface. It appears that the book designer has used a generous amount of letter-spacing and line-spacing. Also, I have not noticed any hyphenation, which is extremely rare in book design. The book designer, I imagine, is a perfectionist.

Any idea what the typeface is?

I've notice quite a few times recently that the front or back few pages have a note saying what the typeface is. Have you checked that?

Keith - About the Font is always the first place I check. I have also noticed many publishers now are giving credit to the book designer on the copyright page.

As this font is based upon a very old cut (mid-1500s or so), I think you'll find a more extensive--and free--version on Google fonts. It's been redrawn a few times over the decades.

Both font designers slightly altered the original.
