Default Miter Join. When applying a brush to a closed path fails at start/end point

I'm trying to apply a gradient brush to an closed shape. When there is no brush applied, all corners are mitered.

But as soon as I apply a custom brush, the miter is broken at the start/end point.

Anyone know how to get around this?

I can apply a Round Cap, Round Round Join and all ends are rounded but I want pointed corners.

Gary, a mitre for a sharp-turning corner can extend a long way from the corner.
For speed, Xara is probably using scaled integer calculations and once it passes a limit, it breaks.

You could using rounded corners, use the brush and then convert Line to Shape and then shape into points.
Why not just use shapes instead from the start?

Using a brush, which you turned me on to some time ago, is a better solution. In the case of this design I am going to use rounded corners. But it would be so much sharper with mitered corners.

    is it symmetric ?

if so is it possible to clone and rotate 180 degrees and use that clone as a guide for finishing the join by hand ?

    Got you.

Any chance of starting your line not on a cusp?

I've also tried using a Dart, Kite & Boomerang rather than a Box to taper the start and end.
Unfortunately, they won't help you but I have found some very interesting edging designs for my future use.

I changed all the line endings to smooth and created the closed shape again. But the start/end joint is rounded and the others are mitered.

This thread probably belongs in Dear Xara. But if I put it there it might not get read.

How about leaving it as a line, extend the home/end nodes and match the curves?

Ah, this works okay but you need it for a stereogram shade map or whatever they're called and my method won't work there.

    How about this:

Thanks for the video Egg. Creating a tip shape is how I get around this limitation. Great minds, etc.
