You can change the new object handles back to old school handles by delving in to the registry.

change the value of Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xara\XtremePro x64\18\Options\Selector Tool\ShowXCBoundsBlobs. 1 is on, 0 is classic black squares

And Gary has got some explaining to do. The "show selection bound handles"-button only appears when one changes this value to 0, i.e. opting for the classic appearance.

    Michael, already mentioned in Post#3.

Why must he? This is not a discussion if it throws around recriminations.

I appreciate your statement that the Classic setting restores the button; I believe that this causes loss of other UI functionality, perhaps the stated reason in the Release Notes.

I have found no problems in it not being there but I would appreciate some User Stories around its need and use.

as far as I recall, when the new handlse were introduced the function of 'show selection bounds handles' button changed - before it was a visibility toggle for certtain mode/s - but once the new handles were introduced this was no longer necessary and so it does not appear; and it will only appear when you revert back to classic mode, agreed

looked at idiomatically that comes across aggressively in thiis context, maybe you not mean it to be?

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.

As far as I can see changing the registry setting no longer works (no classic view) for XPGD v18.

Acorn's solution to zoom to selected is a good option to see what you are doing. Also changing the view quality to outline might also help.

I might be wrong but I don't think XaReg (v2.5) works either to change/reduce the blob size.

Something else that could be added to Pepr’s ‘Cons’ list, is the fact the thick blue dashed borders can actually prevent you from editing nodes in certain situations. For example, if you have a rectangle that has been converted to an editable shape, the corner nodes will now be obscured. Incidentally it also looks like the borders obnubilate guidelines!

There are workarounds as shown in screenshots below, but…

I was a little scared to Google obnubilate, but then I realised it was Jonopen. Also, the FBI don't operate in Aus.

    TIL -
obnubilate means darken or cover, as in cloud, obscure. I have no doubt I will forget that tomorrow, and then spend all of next week trying to remember the word.

    @Chris M, @handrawn

If anyone here can get the old handle controls working again with XPGD v18, I'd be over the moon. I'm having trouble getting used to the new style. Spot the difference!

Not to overlook the Pro+ Mould Tool controls are all but invisible.
