    Awww, it's OK John.

Iv'e learned over the years on the web to take about 1/3 of what is bantered about seriously. You can usually tell when some one is being just plain rude and when it's an attempt at being a comedian!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

When I am doing my thing, trying to be the class clown (which I still am to this day, I think) I just do a play on words. It's sometimes funny but sometimes shocking and sometimes both. Sometimes I fall flat on my face or the people I'm trying to get a responce out of are just not 'getting it', so I drop them as friends after that. Totally kidding. See, I just can't help myself!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

    Hi Richard
And belated Happy Birthday. Getting back to the icons issue. I think that software UI is all about the users Real Estate. Let me try to explain. If i'm doing a drawing, I want the maximum screen size given over to my drawing area, with the interface 'furniture' taking up the minimum area available.

I've no objection to resizable icons, or an option to a text explanation, but formostly these should be an additional option.

It's very strange how users prefer various options, but I have a loathing of dockable galeries!

I have a 21" monitor, which I use at 1600 x 1200 pixel resolution. What I find great about the Xara interface is that the majority of the screen is still given over to my drawing area.
I only wish was the case with Flash MX, where often my drawing area is lost behind Properties, Actions, Timeline and Library Windows !!!!!
    Keep it simple.

Thanks Egg for the belated wishes! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Yes, I totally agree with you. The icons would be as they are now, set to the smaller icon set as default but a simple right click on the bar would reveal a menu with the options I requested. Not all of us have perfect vision and I think it's handy. As you have read I too have a large monitor and while it's allowed for more visual realestate there are times when icons work better with text, partially because they look too similar and I keep clicking on the wrong one or I need them larger to see better on really bad days.

As for the idea of dockable galleries it would, of course, be up to the indiviual user to choose to have them visible all the time or not. I personally would have them visible all the time, I don't like having to set up the work area every time I start up Xara, it's easier and if it's done right can be pretty much unobtrusive and really handy.

    Thanks for posting! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
