    Joel,

Yes, the initial batch will be on the CD. However future movies will need to be downloaded.

SG, this isn't a pre-release. It's been released slightly early to the forums, but aside from any last minute fixes this is what the X1 release will contain. There will not be any new features for this release, other than those outlined in in Charles's initial post.
I'd start a revolution, if I could get up in the morning.

    Anthony,

I got a total of 73 avi's and the total was about 35Mb's total. There was one that I was told I needed to go out on the web and download myself as it was a large file. Is that where that other 35Mb's is that you mentioned?? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/eek.gif

    Thanks!!

    Britta,

I would be more than happy to help you as much as I can but I'm a bit of a newbie too. I'm an "Old Newbie" what I mean is that I have played with the last 6 versions of Mandrake and even tried out Suse 2 times (HATED IT!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif ). At this point I have it pretty well set up. The new theme (Galaxia 2) is Da' BOMB, my desktop is really gorgeous. My Wacom tablet is not working correctly but at least it was recognized and was kinda/sorta set up (it draws backwards!! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/eek.gif ) My digital camera once plugged in was recognized and told me that I had 19 images and this much space left and all that good stuff, so that's good. Have not tried out the CDRW or the DDRW drives yet. It's much much better. The new Kontact, which is where all the internet mail/news/contact stuff is kept is very well designed. OpenOffice is really nice now, fast and furious, so that's really good too. PM me at "RAMArts44 at mindspring dot com" and I'll help you out.

Anyway, sorry for the OT everyone! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Nicely timed upgrade, Xara! I was getting worried.

Is it OK to buy this upgrade through the link on the start-up screen? I mean, does this work OK, considering this isn't on general release yet, or should we wait?

RMWolff, about another 25mb to download I think.

I'm quoting figures from memory, so I'm a bit off. http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Michael, yes I believe you can order fine.

Thanks Charles and all Xara's guys for new product.

Please notice that Picture Editor menus have wrong appearance on the right sides... See Attached image. It seems as repeated background http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

    I have 1600 x 1200 resolution.

    Thanks!

    Total install sizes:

    Xara X1 directory: 86,838,857 bytes
Largest sub directory - Help and support: 72,265,728 bytes
Largest File - 20,430,848 bytes (worth the download)

    Alexander;

Xara must have done pretty durn good if the only thing people can find is a bit of cosmetic stuff. I double checked all the XPE menus and can not duplicate your error.

WooHoo! A day to remember! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

THIS is excellent to see, and one of the features is most appreciate:
    --------------------------------------
    QUOTE:
Xara X can do things like this; Load a 2Mbyte JPEG file (common nowadays with digital cameras) - which would expand typically into about 20Mbytes of memory. Make a few copies of the bitmaps - edit them using the XPE, overlay, feather, adjust transparency, do whatever you want. Save as .xar file. Your file size is just 2Mbytes and it saves in 0.5 seconds. Load it back and you can still undo any edit on any bitmap.

Try the same in Illustrator (and probably all other vector programs). If you have say five copies of your bitmap you Illustrator file is now 100Mbytes and takes more than a minute to save - you have a file that rapidly becomes unmanageable.
    ---------------------------------------------

Thanks for the early release Xara! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Have the "dead" Purchase button fixed, installed the X1 trial on a spare PC, the purchase worked fine from there. Both PC's are nearly identical, same hardware same OS , except spare had no Xara X installed and wanted an extra download before installing.

We are very concerned to hear from anyone that the Buy link on the start-up splash screen does not work. It should open a browser window and go to the special purchase page.

If anyone else has this problem, of the Buy links not working, can they report it please.

There are two places this Buy link appears. On the start-up screen of the trial and on the close down screen after you quit the program.

For those where the Buy link does not work can I ask you to try the links on the close down screen to the XaraXone and this forum? They should also just open a browser on the appropriate place.
