and... some more thoughts on using Wings3D in the overall process...
If you don't have it, get the Cinema 4D v 8.1 demo ...
Box your models out in wings3d , and when you have added as much detail as you wish, assigning colors along the way, then export as .obj file and import into C4D... re edit colors and select those parts which you would like to smooth out further and do a hyperdivide on em... it's magic I tell you... mathematical sweetness.

Yea man... yahooo cool... but not eeek man, definately not an eek man... hahaha...
na, seriously though, it divides things nicely... rather than influencing one past the selection upon a smooth, the hyperdivide only takes the smooth to the edge of selection...perfect for those final smoothes...
aaah ok ya, i see. Good idea.
