However, I'll never understand **how** these guys model an organic object. It must take months or even years, or they have something I don't know about.

Yea
Ya gotta like it eh
Jens, don't think like that man, they probably say the same stuff about your machined look and polished displays... how does he do it up so nicely they ask
As for "how" ... probably months to learn, years to perfect
You could do organic Jens... this artist's work was done with Nurbs... splines is splines... Just think of things as being shiny metal instead of hides and you would pop something out twithout but a thought hehe ... just ribbin yas
Thanx Dave

I must have an obstacle somewhere in my brain. I can do organic illustrations - no problem. But in 3D... I think I don't have enough patience, or I don't see a reason why to model a tiger or bird, because I accept nature with all its beauty as it is. Makes more sense for me to use my camera to capture nature than to remodel it.
I just watched the 'Final Fantasy' last week. Some people say it's reality, but I clearly see that it is a virtual reality - as I always say: you can't copy nature. As great as the movie is, it lacks natural movements, natural textures, natural behavior etc. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to discredit the enormous knowledge of the makers, developers, artists, it's just that cg remains cg - no matter how perfect you apply textures or imitate natural movements.
So I'll stick to something that makes sense in my eyes. Maybe I'll start organic modeling when I'm 70 ;-}

If I were an architect designing a zoo, that guy would be my first on my list to contact. Other than that, it just looks plain cool. -David
