    For instance,

I have a font called thunderbird bt in xara. If I use that font, and save as an ai. Illustrator opens it just fine, but substitutes some other font because it does not recognize thunderbird bt. If you select the changed text, and change it to thunderbirdbt (no space) you get your font back.

If you do as others have suggested and convert your fonts to shapes... outlines ... curves or what ever you want to call them then you can beat this problem...

    Right you are, John!

It seems that Xara X handles the name of fonts internally, a bit different than Illustrator.

Fonts with spaces in the name:

E.g. Bossa Nova MVB is mapped as Bossa-Nova-MVB in Xara X. Perhaps at one point in time font names where not supposed to contain spaces?

Thanks for the heads-up! I'm sure it will save me some aggravation at one point or another.

    And by the way...

will the future (fixed) version of XaraX have renewed Pantone Spot Libraries? And will it have standart (a la AI) libraries? I mean nobody from my printers can't understand what is, for example, Pantone 021 PC... http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif they used to deal with Pantone 021 C http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)) "PC" confused them http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif))

also i wouldn't like to have such kind of troubles with fonts too... I wonder if it is really that difficult to export them in AI correctly?

anyway, xarax is great application! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif))
