Hopefully Ivan and some others will dig this thread.

I used XARA when it first came out as a "Band-Aid" for trueSpace and Photoshop pieces that weren't quite right. After all this time, the three apps have become blurred in their outlines.

I'm opening this thread because I think "3D" is in the eye of the beholder. The tubes were drawn in XARA, and not modeled.

Does anyone else have peices that aren't strictly a product of rendering meshes with skin on 'em?

lots of stuff that could fit this thread!

The one I attach was drawn in Xara X and it was a study trying to work with both 2d and 3d elements in the same drawing. I was trying to get each kind of element to inform the dimensionality of the other.

This thread has had the most hits and the best work I've seen in quite a while!

Here's the very first piece I did in XARA, late 1995, I think.

everyone. It is inspiring to see all the images the 3D experts create using 2D apps.

Another image created using Xara X.

Great thread thanks Gary for starting it.
Ross,Steve,Soquili, gidgit,Mark & kiwi ya'll have some great examples. Thanks for sharing, I for one can say I have really enjoyed looking at these.

I will post something just to contribute, but it is not 3d looking. the Candlestick is about the only thing that could possible look 3d.

Aaa yes, and even MORE excellent stuff. Nice goin guys!

Hey David... i forgot to mention i really liked the special lighting you used on your ship. Nice touch.

And about the "whoswe.com" site... nope, it's been gone for awhile now. Don't know why... it just dissappeared. Might be moving servers or something.

Well... i guess if we're going to keep this open a while longer, i may as well post ONE more pic. This was done with Xara2, WAY back in '99.

(please forgive the Jpg compression artifacts, but the file size was pretty high without it)

Its subject matter is one of my few passions.

I see a lot of great work here. Steve naturally, and the truntable by Mark is exquisite. You can't find them record spinners any more, can ya? My kid brother bought me a Panasonic years ago which does not look as good, but it spins my collection of 33's fine.

Here's a sort of extruded Fleur DeLis. XARa, natch'.

and another. Looking through my files I seem to have way too much stuff with "Xara" -- I'm going to have to stop that!
