Assuming that the lamp shade is pleated, perhaps you simply need to add shading (via a linear transparency on a black clone) to bring out the 3D appearance.
One of the experts around here can gin up an example faster than I.

You have some pretty cool things happening here.
Your main problem is your perspective is inconsistent. The top of the lamp shade is perfectly flat which would indicate that this is at eye level and the rest of the lamp is below eye level. Except the bottom of the lamp is also flat.
So, if you are doing more of a elevation view of the lamp then the bottom of the shade like the top needs to be flat as well.
Find a photo of a lamp on the internet (do a search on Google.com for table lamps) and use it as reference for the perspective.
