    all these programs are like someone trying to identify between different objects in a totally dark room - with the added disadvantage that they have no imagination, they need to be told everything; and the more variables there are, the more difficult it becomes...

    I also find that adding a very small amount of feathering can actually do two things, remove a little unwanted outline but also make the composite look more natural because it adds the illusion of realistic focus. For example, if your trimmed image was not absolutely pin sharp, why would the outline be? If this makes any sense. Anyway, try adding really small amounts of feathering!
