Creating Pixel Art in XDPX11

Hello!

Does anyone here have experience with creating Pixel Art? Is XDPX11 a good program to use? If so, are there any tutorials available? I'm looking for an easy way to do this using Xara if possible. I can't afford Graphics Gale or Photoshop. I'm looking to create everything from tiles to sprites for my project. Insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
