Wow!!!! So many ways to go about it - and that's great! I can experiment and discover which technique works best for me.

The reason I asked the question is because I plan to get serious about comic book work, but time and deadlines, etc. And I had read about an artist named Bleedman who does great work, but he says he NEVER "inks" his work - he uses his pencil lines and then colors them. Here's a sample of his work: http://bleedman.deviantart.com/gallery/

I'll post a sample here of a drawing using one or some of the techniques suggested here (it'll probably be after the holidays though). Oh, and here's my Deviant Art page if you want to take a look at some of my stuff: http://toonicorn.deviantart.com/

    Have a Merry Christmas, everyone!

    Merry Christmas TC

in the link you gave are some examples of one of the things I was trying to say; for example gully and beethoven - where the tones are light you see the lines, where the tones are dark they blend into the colour

although the lines are still boundaries for the colouring, using this technique I think of them less as 'ink' and more of just another part of the colouration.....

Here is a Youtube Tutorial that Gary did on the Xaraxone where he talks about using Xara and Cartooning and using scanned images.

Also here is page that Zeb has about using Xara for cartooning. He use to post a lot of his work so you may want to do a search for him.

    Toonicorn,
I would say you have been given just about all the info you can get on this. The only thing is that no one has really mentioned using a bitmap editor here. Please yourself which one to use but I would and have used PhotoShop. I thought the best method to use would be vector and then it wouldn't be resolution dependant but it takes so long to trace your sketch. There are many with with CMYK colour support some are free others are not but in most cases the free ones need to be used with plugins.

Please try this method of colouring hand drawn sketches as it is far quicker than the vector route.
    Design is thinking made visual.

    ...hence:

and maybe use a program more suited to this sort of work
yep, photoshop will do it - so will affinity photo, and it's a whole load cheaper one off cost

TC if you want pointers I'd suggest a new thread in graphics chat so as not to go off topic in xara graphic forum
