I see in your profile you use P&GD so you can use the Mould Tool. When you say a picture, if you mean a photo, then the Mould Tool will not work ~ it only works on vector shapes.
If however you just want to place a photo into a circle then the clip view feature might be your best bet. Placing a picture, not photo, onto a sphere so that it fits the contours of the sphere requires the Mould Tool.

    I will post examples soon.

It depends what you mean by picture and by sphere. If you just want a picture inside a circular frame, then the Clip View feature should do it. (see fig. 1)

If you want a picture to fit the contours of the sphere then the Mould Tool will do it. (see fig. 2)

If by picture you mean photo, then you cannot do the second option with the Mould Tool as it only works on vectors.

To spherize a photo you need a program like Photoshop or Paintshop Pro.

Welcome to TalkGraphics - Let me know if you need more detailed instructions.

Bob - Under the FX effects is Deformation > Bump - Dent. Bump 100% is similar to Spherize.

You can get some good effects using the Deformation / Fisheye FX too.

Fisheye is what I would think would be best but I have consistently had better luck with Bump, and if need be, adding bump again.

Fisheye makes the image larger as you increase the amount. IMHO there are issues with Fisheye that need to be addressed. But both effects export an image the size of the original uncropped photo, which should have been fixed a long time ago.

OK. Because I do not have enough to do, I did this experiment.

    I created a 16 x 16 square grid and created a 300dpi Bitmap Copy.

To this I applied a Deformation > Bump 100% and then to that applied a second Bump 100%

Then to a duplicate of the grid, I applied a Deformation > Fisheye 100% and a second Fisheye 100%

Finally, because you know I love to argue, I brought the same grid into Photoshop and applied a Spherize 100% filter.

The Photoshop Spherize version matches the Xara Bump 100% exactly.

Xara's Fisheye Deformation as you can see is not very spherical.
