    Default Make the background transparent

I have a logo that I'm working with and I need to grab the logo and place it on a a transparent background or make the background that it's on transparent so that I can place it on a page where the page fills the open space. How do I do this? Is there a way of doing this in Xara other than the magic lasso to cut away the parts I don't want? Click image for larger version.

Select the bitmap with the Photo Tool.

Click the Select Colors to Enhance Tool on the white portion of the bitmap.

Right click on the red dot and select Make Transparent.

Alternatively, and this gives a slightly better image:

    Select the image.
Select the Mask Painter Tool (Anl+F7)
Mask a small portion of the black & red portions of the image
    Select the Eraser Tool (Shift+E)
Erase portions of the white background
    Select Erase Background

Don't know what the need for the logo is (print? Web? or ?), but it doesn't take too long to download both of the fonts used from Dafont (Samurai and Last Ninja) and redraw or trace & fix a vector version of the logo.

I know Iggy is happy with is quiry but I tried the suggestions by Egg and Gary and found Mike's the simplest to use, trace,
download the font. I'm a bit late reading the post by Iggy but seeing as I completed the trace thought I'd post the image. Did'nt extend it to the background, just wanted to show the trace

Yes I mean Mike- mwenz. I traced over your original drawing using the shape tool. In the Page and Layer Gallery, lock your original image down so it can't be moved then trace over each object in the image. Down load the fonts if you do not have them. Type your text and make a line curved then select text and line and select from the Arrange menu, fit text to curve. You will notice there is three white inside shapes, two on the top object and one on the lower object. I traced these three first then made them invisible in the P&L gallery as you will need these to place on top of your final traced objects in place then selecting each and its object, select slice shapes hence your white cut outs. Sorry to ramble on Iggy. Sounds a lot of work but it's well worth it

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.

Thanks Larry, just my bit to keep the vector gang going and as G.B. has said, tracing is'nt cheating. Don't forget it was Mike who first pointed out to Iggy to trace it and show what results he could get.
