An image created in Gimp

Hi,

This is an image I created using a freeware
called Gimp. This program is available in linux
as well as windows platform.

The main effect shown here is the rusty effect,
with a gold colored twist.

Could you tell us a little about the features of Gimp? The site you directed us to seems to be a fan club for the program, but oddly it has no link on how to get the program.....at least that I could see.

For win32 platform, go to
http://www.gimp.org/~tml/gimp/win32/

For linux and latest version, go
to http://www.gimp.org
they are available at practically every
linux/unix distribution.

This is a 2D program with some 3D plug-ins,
so don't expect too much if you are into 3D.

Hey cool gold effect .... I had tried gimp but I uninstalled it. I'm pretty sure it was due to some problems my computer started having but I can't be sure if it was gimp or not (I have win ME so maybe that was it).

gug.sunsite.dk Someone mentioned running Gimp
on Win2K without problem, not sure if anyone
uses it on Win ME. Win 9X and NT are OK
though.. You will have to download the latest
patches to avoid the bugs which have been fixed..

Other lists that can help you are gimpi@yahoogroups.com and gimpwin-user@yahoogroups.com

Gimp has its strengths, one of which is color
manipulation ;-) not to mention the many plugins
which comes with it.. it can even use filters of
the FFL format.
