Graphics Designer 12 - can't select group with pen

I've switched recently to V12. I can select multiple objects with my mouse for grouping, but not with my pen. The pen displays the 'arrow' when I click the 'selector' tool and can select individual objects.

I'm using Designer pro 365 ( but AFAIK Photo and Graphics designer should have the same pen/pressure settings) and I'm unable to replicate this using my intuos pen and touch. I tried clicking and dragging and holding Alt and drawing with the pen over each item I want to select and both methods seem to work for me. You could try running as administrator and see if that changes anything.
