Cool New Smart Shape: The Dimensioned Line

In anticipation of the much awaited API for creating our own Smart Shapes, I present The Dimensioned Line: Dimensioned Line.xar.

    instructions for Use

Double click on the digits of the smaller, striped line under the Pale blue bars.
This changes the tool to the QuickShape Tool.

Click-drag the indicated blue control point to the left to shorten the line.
Click-drag the indicated blue control point to the right to lengthen the line.
The Pale Blue bars are 100px up to 500px wide.

    What not to Do

    Flip the line horizontally.
    Shrink it to below zero.

    Nota Bene
It isn't really a new Smart Shape.
Can you work out what it is and how I made it?
And..., it's not that accurate. can anyone help on this part? The left and right parts must Snap to Objects.
It is, however, on my API to-do list.

Not a clue, but it appears to work.

The fill is a bit clunky. Maybe solid or a horizontal gradient?

or XDPX11 either as the JavaScript code to handle it in not part of these applications.
When the API appears, we might be able to retro-work such smart shapes.

The fill can be changed by anyone; I thought the barber-pole effect was nifty. Ah well!
It is not accurate enough as the digits overhang the end of the line just enough to put it off about 1%. I wanted it to be accurate to sub-pixel level.

I'm still trying to work out what Nota Bene means Acorn

Agree re the barbers pole. It would be nice to hear from Xara when the expected release date of the API is. They've been heralding it since the release of v11.

I have newest version, I checked to make sure it's up to date (365), but your file says it's made with NEWER version? And so the shape doesn't work.

Hi hseiken, according to your profile you have Xara Photo & Graphic Designer . However if a file is created in Xara Designer X, which is a later release than Xara Photo & Graphic Designer it will give you this warning window.
