    It would help if the word was spelt properly - dodging. A wet photography technique from the start of photography.

    Angelize thanks for ideas for the usage, yes mainly that meant.

    Generally I guess such kind of 'painter' tool is rather for those users, who use Xara on graphic tablets. Because with a mouse on a computer, typically used to select the area and apply the effect without 'paint'. But that airbrush kind of usage might be interesting also on computer

    The lack of precision offered by a mouse is likely to be unimportant, especially if a largish feather is used. Also consider in the analogue realm dodge and burn (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodging_and_burning) can had hardly be considered precise (if you're no Ansel Adams).
