    Default question about a tut

    Hello,
I am trying to do this tutorial: http://archive.xaraxone.com/tutorial...utorial_6.html

On page 5, when trying to get a fractal fill on the leaves, I can only get it to work on 1 leaf. What could be causing the other leaves not to accept the fractal plasma fill? You can tell the arrows are not responding to colors.

    Thanks,
    pslane

Not sure why the fill is not applying. Maybe if you post your image so far we can look and see what is happening.

This was one of my favorite tutorials.

    Are the leaves separate objects?

They were separate objects, but I did group some of them. I just ungrouped them all and still no fractal plasma fill. So I have decided to make them all again and follow the directions more closely.

Update: I did them over, following the instructions to a t. Now I can get a one-color fractal plasma fill but seems like only one arrow is working so I can't get 2 colors.

This might help, the original xara file I did of Gary's tut. The three centre storks of the tomatoes have a bitmap fill with trans. on top "old brightness" I point this out so you can drag them out of the way and see the fractal plasma fill of all the leaves. I hope this helps sort your problem out. Really good tut. of Gary's.

Guess I'll try that even I don't have much experience with bitmaps. If all else fails, I will just put a linear fill and forget the fractal fill.
You did a wonderful job with that! Thank you all.

I did the bitmap thing and it looked pretty good, but I don't think the next step will work with a bitmap, will it? A Circular Stained glass Transparent? Will that work on a bitmap? I don't think so. If I could just get both ends of the arrow to work with the fractal fill!

I can only suggest as to what Gary said in #2, post your .xar file and then perhaps we can see as to why you are unable to apply a fractal fill. The bitmaps are only secondary effects to give the storks a light dark trans. Your problem is applying a fractal plasma fill to the stork shapes and has mwenz asked, are the storks seperate shapes?
