filling the inside of this shape with grey

Hi

I've used circles to create this shape.

I've grouped it and want to fill the inside with grey.

How do I do this?

Create another shape (same shape as your circles) with a grey fill and no border and put it behind the circles.

Clone your circles and Group this this clone.
With the Shape Tool, create a line by clicking on the centres of each circle in sequence until your complete the line into a shape.
Add Shapes with the clone and the new shape.
Make it grey and Feather it to taste.


Another approach:

Clone and group the circles.
Fill as grey.
Use the Bevel Tool and ensure all the bevelled shapes overlap.
Clone this and Add Shapes with its Clone.
Feather this back to fit.
Clone and Shrink repeatedly until you have filled the inside.

It was a simple solution and I was overthinking how to do it.
