Here's a more updated wireframe showing the shadows. As I originally stated, some of the backgound (runway texture), and part of the pilot (torso, not head) are raster, everything else is vector.

Well, Graham, it's a technically outstanding piece and a very photorealistic illusion, but with Xara? From the moment I picked it up, it's been very good at blending vector data and pixel data into a seamless whole. So I'm not surprised that virtually no one who sees this wonderful piece can tells where the resolution independence starts and where the resolution dependent bitmap begins!
Cheers, and an amazing Period Piece,
Gary

Awesome drawing Gray. I alway look forward to one of your post. I know all the time and effort that you put into them. They always come out top notch. Thank you for sharing Gray.

Thanks for sharing the wireframe view, Graham. Funny how the wireframes don't show all the work we put into a drawing, eh?
The wireframe belies all your devotion to the subject, man!
My Best,
Gary
Ron, thanks my friend. Constructive criticism is always helpful isn't it.
Thanks Paul, for your comment.
Gary thanks, I've been mixing vectors with digital painting for a few years now. I'm reasonably happy with the way the two graphics types support each other. You're right about getting a critique. I post at a couple of art sites with traditional artists. Often get constructive feedback.
