Stitching working beautifully. Studs, OK. Denim texture not quite there for me.
Nice job though, Frances.
Paul, the Denim appraiser.. ;-)
Excellent job Francis. I too like the stitching. But I also like the denim and rivets. I think the whole thing turned out well. What did you uses for the pattern of the denim? Did you set the stitching up with a brush?
Hi Frances. A few years ago Gnurf did a denim texture as a result of one that I did in Illy. I tried it as well in Xara and couldn't get it to look the same it didn't have that woven look. Here's how Gnurf did it and he included a mini tut: http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...ighlight=denim
Sorry didn't mean to high-jack your thread thought it might help others.
Design is thinking made visual.
The denim doesn't work for me.
But, the stitching is just great.

Thanks for comments everyone. The little mini tut from Gnurf will be helpful, I used a similar technique with layers of fractal fills and transparencies. I was going for a stonewashed look. The stitching and the gathered fabric around the stitches are two separate brushes. The stitching came about as a happy accident as I was experimenting with the stitching and I forgot to turn the brush definition object horizontally before creating the brush and it gets some shifts in rotation which give it an interesting look.

Nicely done, Fraces. I too like the stitching and studs.
After going through the tut from gnurf that Albacore linked to I've refined my denim texture and added a lighter denim fill to the lettering. The pocket studs are actually bitmaps ( they are from the hardware scrapbooking set in the designs gallery. I just adjusted the hue and saturation to make them look more brass like. The second image shows my brushes the gathered fabric brush was given a bleach transparency after being applied to the line.

I like your version 2 a lot, Frances. Big improvement on the texture of the original.
(also miles better than my attempts, too!)
Bob.
