Everybody in this forum seems to have varying opinions on WebStyle 2, we would like to offer ours but we can't get the damn thing to run.

Every time we try to open an option "Nav Bars" etc the program crashes with:

Program has performed an illegal function.....

WEBSTYLE caused an exception 10H in module
    WEBSTYLE.EXE at 0167:0045d163

This occurred initially in the demo version, but some options did work enough to give us an idea of the program, so based on what we could see and the success we have had with Xara 3D 4 we purchased the program.

We have sent 4 e-mails to support and only received 1 reply which basically asked which version we were using (and advised us of this site), we replied with the version number and have heard nothing. We purchased the product on Sept 11 and still do not have it running.

The demo version will work partially if we do not install the template pack, the CD version crashes on every option that we select. Our equipment and operating system exceed the min requirements, and the installation was performed as per Xara's instructions, Xara 3D 4 and the trial version of Xara X run without a hitch.

Has anybody experienced this problem, or have any ideas, as we are not getting any replies from Xara support? We can supply a Dr Watson log file created at the time of the crash should anybody wish to see it.

Your problem sounds a little like a memory problem with your system. Here are some things to look at:

    - Ram... How much do you have? 128Mb is good and 256Mb is better.

    - Swap file... How much free disk space do you have on the hard drive where your swap file is located? Is windows managing your swap file or have you set the min / max values? The best values here can make a big difference for your system, but the best values depends on how much ram you have as well as how much free disk space you have.

    - Resources... right click on My Compurter and choose properties and then choose performance. What is your percent free when your having the problems? You should have high numbers here and the higher the better. 60% of less is going to give you problems with your computer for sure. What is this number after booting? What is this percentage after loading WebStyle? If your getting low numbers, you must remove some items in ram during startup. Run msconfig and click on the starup tab. Shut off some unneeded operations. What you must/should do depends on your answers to these questions.

Looking at your system in these area and having the correct setting will make all the difference in the world for any programs you run on any system/s you have.

I have no problems with WebStyle what so ever other than some interface/operational issues I've reported.

    The BEST is good enough!

Found the problem, it was caused by an old video driver from an Ark Logic video card. Deleted this driver and WS2 runs perfectly.
