What's required to use Xara 10 on an Mac computer?

It been a while since I use on Talkgraphics, could you direct this thread to proper place on the forum, please.
My Windows 7 computer is about to crash by the looks of it. So I have to purchase a new computer and I was wondering if Xara products (P&G 10) work on an iMac 21.5 computer. I realize you need windows to operate Xara but some where in the past I read about using Xara on Apple computers and using some kind of program to convert to Windows. Can any of you guys & gals help me out on this by letting me know if I'm getting into something over my head. I turn 76 in two weeks and my computer skills are starting to slow down but I still use Xara 10 fairly regularly. Started using Xara - CorelXara and worked my way through to Xara 10. Thanks for your help in advance.

On an Apple computer, you would need to install a VM programme first. Either Fusion or Parallels.
Then install Windows.
Then install Xara.

Thanks very much for your advice. Doing that seems to be a very expensive way of drawing with Xara. I think I'ii stick to a new Windows computer instead. The only thing is I'll have to learn Win 8.1. I think an old dog can still learn new tricks. Thanks again for your help.

If you're used to Windows 7, then Windows 8.1 isn't too different.
All you've got to do is to make sure that Windows 8.1 starts on the Desktop.
And buy a Start Button, such as Start8.
That's how I use/run Windows 8.1

Yes, doing what I suggested in my previous post is a more expensive way of running Xara.
But, that's the only option, if you want to use an Apple PC or Laptop.

Or you could just install Windows with bootcamp and run Windows directly without any VM.

Apple computers are just regular PC systems nowdays anyway, just with an artificially crippled EFI implementation to have a tighter grab from the balls and money of users.

A crazy way to get a windows computer. Even a very nice windows computer.

You might just as well describe a Tesla as a box with wheels, a battery and a motor.

This has just totally made my day, been looking for a way to get rid of that rubbish start menu and get the Win7 style back! Thanks Rik!

Just found out today that Apple will be shipping an updat that will provide users the ability to run windows programs natively on OSX yosemite. Seems an extension to swift. You can find out more on http://www.apple.com/swift/
