Yeah maybe boolean is the right terminology. What he wants is not possible in Xara.

So I created the next best thing... I hope? Maybe a little more reflection to match his other beads?

Just wondering how many different positions will be needed for this little bead to be in when used as planned?

Well a 2D representation of a 3D sphere isn't hard in Xara. All you need is the Circular fill and adjustment to the start and end colours.
A linear fill takes care of the fake hole.

Well, even if done with any 3D software the image will still only be a 2D presentation of 3D object, so the method in previous post should work well enough.

Sphere is always round, so simple circle should do it but the hole will turn more into ellipse depending how far positioned from the centre. Even that can be dealt good enough with perspective tool and little eyeballing.

Steve That is an awesome Bead ! Is there a (tutorial ) on how to do that? I am Xara novice and I have to admit that is AWESOME ! My rudimentary shapes have gotten me by but there are some that are very difficult to make look 3d ... some beads have (facets) and are almost impossible to make them look right. ie bicone, and firepolish (types of beads) see pictures. I'm not going to steel Steve's thunder by posting a tutorial since you specifically asked Steve how to do it. But it really isn't too hard.

I would take any tutorial to learn how to make a round bead 3dimensional looking with a hole in it. I am way novice at this software and wrapping my head around it is not going well. Appreciate all help!

This is similar to Steve's example, but this is only how I did it.
I am posting because no other tutorial has been posted. Hope this helps.

EDIT: This is not really a 3D image but only how you could represent it.
