    Default Convert to Editable...

I'm using Web Designer 10, and my question relates to the fact the the functionality to "Convert to Editable Shape" seems to be missing, despite being in the help. The help says to select the shape and use Ctrl+1, but this does nothing for me.

I have three shapes in a group. The bottom one is just a rectangle, and the two on top of it are more complex, with curved lines going to the edges (it's in one of the templates). I want to curve the corners of the whole group. I can ungroup and do this for the rectangle with the shape tool, but not the other two shapes.

So what i'm left with is the curved rectangle I want, but with curved lines on top that stretch out to where the corner of the rectangle used to be.

It's not ideal, but I thought I would be able to solve this by creating a triangle the same colour as the background, and curve in the long edge to fit the curved edge of the rectangle, so that this would cover up the excess lines. It's a simple shape, just a triangle with one edge bowed in, but I can't find any way to do it. I create the triangle, or even a rectangle, then want to "Convert to Editable Shape" which according to the help should be Ctrl+1 (which doesn't work) or on the Arrange menu, which it isn't.

I guess an alternative way to get what I want would be if I could crop the shapes on to to match the outline of the shape below, but I can't work out how to do that either, as Ctrl+3 to intersect doesn't seem to work in WD10 either.

What am I doing wrong? It's hard to believe that something so basic can't be done, so I'm hoping i'm missing something.

    Works fine here.
Post your file for me to check, because I can't really follow what you have posted above.

I've attached a test.web file. This contains the shape I'm talking about, and the problem area is the top left corner.

It's also got a simple rectangle in it, which I can't convert into an editable shape with Ctrl+1.

Forgive my lack of experience with Xara, but all I'm supposed to do is create a rectangle, select it, and press Ctrl and 1 and it should become editable, allowing me to add points to the corners? Does it matter that I only have Web Designer 10, and not Premium?

    Thanks for the quick reply!

    Ah, yes it does. Sorry.
You found a Help file bug.

Brilliant, so there's no way to do what I need? Seems like a really simple thing not to be able to do.

So if I had wd10 premium you can confirm it would do what I want to do?

Well if you could do everything you needed in WD standard there'd be no need for WD Premium would there
WD standard is really a bare bones version ideal for clients who want to update an existing .web project - it's ½ the price of the Premium version after all.

But yes, Ctrl+1 converts to editable shape in WD10 Premium, but in WD10 does creating a new rectangle then double-clicking a corner not create a rounded corner rectangle?

I have Premium and haven't looked at your example, but...

Create a rectangle, clone it, select both and Combine Shapes > Add Shapes.
You should then have an editable shape.

    OP doesn't have Premium, Acorn.
Ctrl+1 is the hot key route to the menu option you mention (in Premium).

But yes, Ctrl+1 converts to editable shape in WD10 Premium, but in WD10 does creating a new rectangle then double-clicking a corner not create a rounded corner rectangle?
Thanks for the help, much appreciated. I had a look at the feature comparison before, and while it mentions the combine shapes functionality, it doesn't mention convert to editable. I guess I'll have to upgrade to the premium version then.

Double clicking the corner does make a rounded corner rectangle, but not in the complex shape I want to edit, just in a new basic rectangle.

while it mentions the combine shapes functionality, it doesn't mention convert to editable.
The Combine Shapes collection of functions is not available in WD10. Meaning the sub-menu items (inc Ctrl+1) are unavailable.
