    Welcome to TalkGraphics

What software are you using? It seems that if you work with a grid and enable some sort of snapping to the grid it would not be that difficult.

Too difficult to tell from the Illustration. It looks to me if there're at least 3 patterns going on at one time. One is a square which has been blended a triangle has then been drawn and this shape has been used as a clipping mask or the Pathfinder has been used to cut the squares. Next one is a horizontal line, again this has been blended or duplicated and made into pattern. The third is maze type pattern with offset lines but this is harder to figure out.

Have a look at the tut it might help: http://gomedia.us/zine/tutorials/ill...abyrinth-maze/
If you don't fancy doing it your self have a look here: http://depositphotos.com/1997339/sto...e-pattern.html

Also from your heading I take you're using AI and it would be handy to know what version you're using as from CS5, I think, the pattern command came in and this would make a difference. Do a search on the subject of "maze patterns using Illustrator". Hope that helps and please come back if you need any more help.
