    Default Design concept

    Hi again all

I have been asked by a client to look at the viability of displaying information on a website of work being carried out on his customers premises in real time.

The kind of thing he is trying to include is arrival/leaving time and a range of work completed (against a predetermined list).

There will be multiple sites, multiple operatives (inputting data via tablet) and multiple customers accessing the information.

Short of developing a custom app (which I couldn't do) the only way I can think of doing this is via a series of Google docs spreadsheets and embedding the output in a website.

Would greatly appreciate your thoughts on this.

    This isn't a small project.

    Hi,

Search for "online project management software" and look at what they have to offer. There are companies and products that already do this sort of work. As Paul says, this is not a small project.

browj2 - thanks for your response.

Personally I agree with you both!

You could always use a remote program like Teamviewer, and have them log into your system to see what you're doing in real time.
    Unless I'm misunderstanding.

Teamviewer wouldn't be a great idea. It would hardly give a professional impression and nobody wants 20 or however many eyes always watching their PC.

This needs a software solution - essentially web based with some server code.

Merlin_AZ + Pauland, many thanks for taking the time to respond.

Have to agree with pauland that Teamviewer would not be the answer.

Almost had a way forward using google 'sheets' but the input was way too problematic.

Am now on the search for an off the shelf app.

Thanks again to everyone for taking the time to respond.

It is not easy to say here because design concept required a good amount information such as brand information

    colors, description, slogan etc.

diyaldin - thanks for your response, but my request for help was more related to how I could capture and display the data rather than the aesthetics of the site.
