Default Running Xara products on 3200x1800 displays

Not sure where to post this, so my apologies in advance.
Any one doing the above and if so, do the buttons and fonts scale so that they are legible?
    Many thanks,
    Mike

Mike, I'm running a screen at 2560 x 1440 and haven't changed anything and I'm still comfortable with it.
I do have a second screen at 1680 x 1050 so I can move windows about if I need to.

I've tried the Windows Magnifier with personal limited success but that might be something you can apply.

I think you need to specify the physical screen size together with the resolution to get an idea of legibility.

And does Windows set the screen resolution to be exactly that or something different?

My Mac has a 2880x1800 screen, similar size to you, but the notional screen size is set by default to 1440x900, with text rendering at a size compatible with 1440x900, but utilising the full screen resolution to make it very detailed. Similarly for software, the screen elements are based around a 1440x900 screen, but graphics can be edited/viewed at the full raw screen resolution.

I really don't know how clever windows is and whether it can do the same thing. Shiphen has been operating his PC with a DPI setting of 125% because his screen size is small compared to the resolution - just like yours. He seems to be using Xara just fine.

After a bit of googling, it seems Windows 8.1 is the OS that supports high definition screens.

It looks like MS have adopted a similar approach to Apple and that you can run the UI at 200% - just like I do in effect.

I saw this article about windows running on a 5K display iMac: http://mashable.com/2014/10/29/windo...a-retina-imac/

So it really begs the question - do Xara products have specific support for hires screens?

I suspect the answer is 'No' just because I've not heard it mentioned anywhere.

Thanks for the reply Pauland. It'll be a Win 8.1 machine - From what I've read, software scales properly on a Retina Mac, but not always on Windows.
Just trying to find out if someone is running any Xara apps on a Win 8.1 3200x1800 display and if the menu/toolbars/text is legible.

Shiphen is using a machine with a small screen but high resolution. He seems to be doing that fine by upping the DPI setting for text in Windows.

He has an outlook issue ( see this thread: http://www.talkgraphics.com/showthre...k2010%29/page1 ).

You might like to ask him how Xara is to use. He hasn't mentioned any specific issues about using Xara.

What is for certain is that at the native resolution and standard windows setting the system will be unusable at that monitor size and raw resolution.

Indeed unfortunately we don't have any support for Hi-Res screens yet, if you increase the DPI over 100% you might notice some of the icons may be blurry or text bigger than the textbox on the toolbar. Functionality wise though should still work fine.
