Thailand street scene, Bangkok

One of my brother's wife is Thai. He's been back to Thailand with her on a number of occasions to visit her family. He asked me if I could draw one of those really long tuk tuks as he thought they were really neat. So, rather than just drawing the tuk tuk itself, I put my foot in it and committed to a street scene; totally fabricated of course. I've been using different online photos to get a feel for what different streets look like there in Bangkok. I settled for drawing a suburb street as the inner city is too modern. Anyway, here's the start of it...

It's a 3 wheeled Yang G'dang

Which, in the UK is a 50cc motorcycle with the silencer baffle removed (with a wood chisel) adorned with vertical scrapes down both sides, one mirror missing (if present the other one is broken) commonly seen being ridden by a spotty "yoof" late at night doing about 35mph in first gear.

Gary, the vehicle in the front of the pic is a tuk tuk, one form of taxi in Thailand. There are a number of styles, but this is probably the most familiar version in Bankok. It isnt finished. But I have to draw another one like it except that it will be much longer. Im doing my best to use perspective, but vehicles have lots of curves and angles that make them a greater challenge than say a building.

Well, the first of two tuk tuks is completed. Also, a little motor scooter, of which there are a lot over there.
This is going to take a while because the second tuk tuk is much longer with many more seats that have to be done to perspective.

Ok. Got the seats in the long tuk tuk. Still, I have a lot of trim to do and also the cloth top has to be finished.

After this tuk tuk is done, then it's time to work more on the background, which when done, will be blurred somewhat to give it the further perception of distance. (I hope).
