One of the cool tools in CD10 is the weld tool. I especially like its ability to take a script font with a stroke but no fill and create, well, seamlessly welded letters. (Deselect Source and Target and merely point to the text).

I have tried to do this in XaraX without success. My best attempts produce welded letters but some without their centers (eg an "a", "d", "b" etc.)

    What am I doing wrong?

Could you include an image so we can see exactly what your trying to achieve?

Yup, that did the trick! I was a little confused in your second illustration where you suggested a solid fill with no stroke. I tried the Convert to Editble Shape and Combine Shapes|Add Shapes on a no fill but stroked script font and I got what I wanted (without the dropouts). Thanks!

...and you can come up with some great effects.
Glad I could help. Xara usually has a work round, that leads to better results than a single one click option, it just requires some thinking through.
