I know how some of those were done. He puts a perspex sheet at 90 degrees to the paper. He inks the perspex, takes away the plastic, leaving the ink at 90 degrees.
That's my theory, anyway..

Hi Paul, there's a very similar artwork in Colchester Hospital. On the wall is a large 10' wide by 6' high black and white image of a local estuary scene. It also has 8" perspex vertical slats with part coloured versions of the same scene. The effect is intriguing, as you walk past the image parts of the black and white photo change to coloured versions of it then change back to black and white.
