    Is it not just creating a Mask Layer and in the Page & Layer Gallery, selecting the Mask Layer to unlock it and dragging the closed line shape into the Mask Layer?

    Ahh! Thanks, I'll try that next time I need to create a bezier curve mask.

    No need to fiddle around with layers:
    * Cut your freehand line
    * Change to any of the mask tools
    * Paste (in place)

    OK thanks Phil, that worked!

    It even pastes the mask with bezier control points:

    However, they still can't be grabbed and edited. But yesterday, I succeeded two times in editing a pink mask with the Shape Tool (F4).

    Today, I can't get the mask into editing mode, no matter what I do

    Funny how after many tries I also managed to edit a mask with the Shape Tool but when I tried to retrace my steps I got lost again. There is a way but I gave up. Sorry David.

    Added: I never really mastered working with masks.

    Thanks, so mask editing seems to be still buggy there
