    Hi ,
As you can see here I'm trying to copy a watch completely in XaraX.(my watch is on the left , while the original images is on the right)

    http://utenti.lycos.it/jamesvalue/ROLEX1.jpg

But I'm not able to find a decent solution to build the two under-glasses effects , one for the date , and one for the watch.

I could achieve a good effect using specialized plugin , in a raster program , but that is'nt my scope , and I'd like to reach a good effect whitin XaraX!

    Any idea?

    Thanks in advance!

I would use a linear transparency that starts about 30% opaque and fades to 0 about half way.

I would use a Conical Transparency, tweaking the profile as shown in the screenshot. Comes kinda close anyway. Nice job on the watch!

    Hi!

So the secret is to use transparency!(it was almost obvious!)

    I'll try!(both ways)

But my question now is what color works better for the glass? considering using transparency?

    ( gray or a blue?)

    Thanks in advance

    Hi ,
    thanks a billion!

For the glass I used both transparency , linear and conical (in two shapes) , for the date I only used the conical transparency with the profile curve , provided by Borlip.(in two shapes?)
Here you can see the result:

    Thanks again Gary and Borlip!

Glad I could be of a little help. The finished product turned out quite good!

And, yes, I used 2 shapes as well, just rotated them for the right effect.

    Hi ,
Thank first for the great help you and Gary gave me!

    About conical transparency:
You must use two rotated shapes to achieve a believable glass-effect with conical transparency!

Why you cannot add other station points to transparency lines as you can do for fills?

I think we should post this question inside the discussion "features you most want in XaraX" !

    Bye thanks again!
