Default adding fonts for photo a graphic designer 9

Hello all I'm trying to make a birthday banner and instead of using the plaintext plots which are in the program I wanted to get a birthday font. I downloaded one and unzipped it, I copied the fonts into the Windows font directory but they are not showing up even after a restart.

Is there anything I am doing wrong or is there another way to do it.

I appreciate all the help of the past due to the situation I am in.

    Any assistance appreciated regards Mark

PS if somebody could advise me as soon as possible As I need to fix this up in the next couple of days so I could finish off the banner

I'm not sure if simply copying the font, into the font folder will work.

After unzipping the font, double click on it, and you will then see an install option.
This is one good way of installing the font.

It will now appear in your Xara product.

Mark what font did you download? A ttf should work just fine if you clicked on the install button.

I believe you have font xplorer and possibly AMP font viewer. Does the font show there?

With every version of Windows after 95, copying the font into the Windows\Fonts folder should be sufficient, rebooting the PC is not necessary. Most of the time, even restarting the application in question (Xara in this case) is not even necessary. Clicking the Install button (a post-WinXP innovation) when previewing the font just copies it into the folder.

It's possible that the actual name of the font is different than the filename you downloaded.
